Chaplain - VITAS

 Daniel Situka, a founding director of The Sovereign Wings of Hope and co fonder Hospice Jinja Uganda. Since 1995, he has been working as hospice Chaplain with VITAS Health care, Houston,  Texas.

Daniel is an ordained Presbyterian minister and a graduate of Covenant College, Lookout Mt, Tennesse,  and Columbia Biblical Seminary, Columbia , South Carolina .  He studied Clinical Pastoral Education at Austin State Hospital and Herman Hospital in Houston Texas.  Daniel is deducted to elderly and terminal disadvantage persons care. He has extensive experience in psychiatric, general hospital Chaplaincy, youth and elderly outreach, missions and a church planting. In his life time he has been involved in founding several community charitable outreach organizations both in East Africa and USA,  He is a former Uganda Administrator with International Christian Aid working with refuges in Karomaja. Over the years he served on several boards of non-profit organizations, including UNAA-Houston,  Basoga Twegaite, Full Gospel Business  Men's Fellowship Uganda, Uganda Christian Fellowship and many others. Daniel is married to Joy Situka.  They have three boys Emmanuel, Jeremiah, and Joshua. He enjoys sight seeing, travel and soccer.

M D - HOSPICE PHYSICIAN
Dr. Denise Turner is in private practice in northwest Houston. She is also a team physician with Vitas Hospice. She is married to Ward Turner, an engineer with ExxonMobil. They have 4 children, Andrew (23), Debbi (21), Martha (19), and Peter (15). Dr. Turner and her husband are members of Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Houston.  Dr. Turner is board certified in Family Medicine with added qualifications in geriatrics. She recently became board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine as well. Her practice consists of nursing home patients and hospice patients. She is medical director at one of the nursing homes where she attends patients. In the past, she has been affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine where she was an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

David Small

PCA - Mission Hospice
Rev. Dr. David Small is currently working as Director of Clinical Operations at Mission Hospice in San Mateo, California.  He is married to Elaine who is a Strategic Analyst for Accenture and has a son, Andy who is 12 years old.  Besides being a Registered Nurse, David holds a Doctorate from Drew University in Psychology of Religion.  He taught at the University level for five years; has served various churches in the United Methodist Church in Michigan, New Jersey and Washington; he served as a missionary for 6 years in Ecuador S.A. and worked in hospital administration as a Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Nursing in New Jersey, Washington and Texas.  David has worked with non-profit organizations over the years serving on boards and being active in community support groups.  He enjoys backpacking and boating with his family.

Patrick Ayota will serve as the Treasurer/CFO with the overall fiscal responsibility of the institution. Patrick brings a wealth of experience in the management of fiscal resources of institutions of higher learning. He has worked both as Chef Accountant, Vice President of US Colleges. Patrick is a certified public accountant and has provided financial and attestations services to a number of educational institutions, and therefore understands the business & financial dynamics that a college needs to succeed. Patrick also serves as the Chairman of Directors of East Africa American Business Council, through which he has developed a network of influential African political, economic and business contacts. He served as UNAA treasurer for over r six years and is current CFO for   Barclays Bank (U) LtdBank Uganda

Professor - PRAIRIE VIEW A&M

Bakama teaches geography at Prairie View A&M University. He received his BA (Hons.) from Makerere University (Uganda), an MA from the University of Windsor in Canada, and a PhD from University of Minnesota.

His research interests are in Medical and Economic Geography. He currently leaves in Houston.  He is married to Ann Osire, and they have two kids Waibi and Babirekere.

I am Eugene B. Edwards, Jr., MDiv. I have been involved in hospice ministry for over 17 years and have done hospital and law enforcement chaplaincy, which I am doing now. I am married to Marsha and we have two children at home: Brandi, our Cocker Spaniel and Collette our Lhasa/Poodle mix. I am looking forward to great things happening in Jinja Hospice over the next years. Blessings.

Shenice Ferguson is a Registered nurse and has been so for the past 10years. She holds a BSN from Prairie View A&M University.Her clinical backround includes Med surge,psychiatric,home health , and hospice nursing. Her passion is educating and providing support services to hospice patients and families. A role she utilizes and loves in her daily duties as manager of Telecare/triage for Vitas innovative hospice, where she has been for the past 5 years. Shenice loves spending time with her two children Ariel  10 and AJ, 7.One of her favorite activities is going to museums, and amusement parks with her kids. She also has a loving Husband of 13 years, Alton Ferguson who also enjoys much of the same activities.Shenice is active in her church, and generously gives to other charitable endeavors-but hospice continues to be her major passion and calling!

Timothy Kizito  has been involved with Wings for nearly 20 years. He  Went to School at  Kings College TN and Vanderbilt University, TN. His married to Irene Kizito,  with one daughter Esther Kizito.  Timothy is a chemist and works with Airgas South West. Inc in Houston.
Sarah M. Matovu

Dr. Sarah Matovu was born and educated in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. She obtained her medical degree (MBChB), in 1979 from Makerere University Medical School, in Uganda. After working as a Medical Research officer for two years, she came to the United States for further studies.
She obtained a Masters degree in Public Health from Harvard University in 1983. In 1988, she entered a three year residency program in Family Medicine, at Morehouse School of Medicine, graduating in 1991. She has continuously held Board Certification in Family Medicine since her graduation from residency. On August 01, 2007, Dr. Matovu was awarded the degree of “Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice” (FAAFP). The highest qualification in the specialty of Family Practice. Today, she is the Medical Director a Neighborhood Health Center which is owned by the largest hospital in middle Georgia.
Dr. Matovu is an active member of the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA International) and has served as its Vice President from 1997 to 1999, and as a Board Member from 1997 to 1999. She is married to Dr. Frank Matovu and together they have raised four sons. She lives in Macon, Georgia.

 Lisa holds BS in Communications, worked with KHOU-TV, KOY-FM and XHTZ-FM in Houston as promoter director and as Vice President of Programming &Promotions with Califormula Radio group. She currently heads the Grace Community Media and Assistant to Executive Pastor. Her desire is to serve the Lord as He leads her, She say that “God, permeates in me a fragrance of His presence to the point that it lingers and fills every room I enter.  That an unavoidable hunger of the heart seizes everyone I meet, both saved and unsaved and that their hearts turn to the Lord”
